Abdulrasheed Bawa has been confirmed this afternoon by the Senate as the substantive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC] after a brief screening.
Addressing the members at the opening of the Screening today, The Senate President, Ahmed Lawal, said EFCC has been under the supervision of the Acting Chairman for six years saying with this Screening, a substantive Chairman of the Commission will get a new substantive Chairman that will operate at its full capacity within the confine of Law.
He was confirmed as the Chairman of the Commission after the Senate President moved that the House should consider the request of President Buhari to confirm Bawa as the substantive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission[EFCC] in line with section 2 of the EFCC Act 2003.
While responding to the question from the members of the Red floor, Bawa said he had used sixteen years in the service of the Commission with good achievements.
Bawa, 40 years, possess Masters Degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy. He is currently studying for a Law Degree at the University of London.
He had successfully supervised money Laundry cases including the allege fraud case against the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Alison Maduekwe.
He had travelled to several countries for training on financial crimes and related matters.
Before his appointment, He was the Lagos Head of Operations of Commission.
