The United States government has sanctioned six Nigerians over $6million cyber fraud against its citizens.
Micheal Pompeo, US Secretary of State, said this in a statement published on the department of state’s website on Tuesday.
Pompeo said the victims were defrauded through the use of sensitive information and financial resources derived by manipulative means which will not be tolerated.
The Nigerians listed were identified as Benson Orson, Kayode Abiola, Ogunshakin Alex, Okpoh Felix, Olorunyomi Micheal, Uzuh Richard.
Their names were also included in Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) specially designated nationals list, under the section of “cyber-related designation”.
The statement read: “Technological advancements that provide greater interconnectivity also offer greater opportunity for exploitation by malicious actors who target at-risk Americans.
According to the statement, the six Nigerians manipulated their victims to gain access to their sensitive information and financial resources.
He added that the US will henceforth not tolerate such gross misuse of technology.
“The U.S will use all of the tools at our disposal to defend the American citizens and businesses from malign actors that seek to target them, including cyber-enabled actors who prey on vulnerable Americans and businesses,” the statement added.
Interpol said Hushpuppi will be extradited from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Nigeria to face alleged multiple fraud charges.
Police Arrests Popular Nollywood Actor, Baba Ijesa For Defiling A 14 Year Old Minor
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 48 year popular Nollywood actor, Olarenwaju James, aka Baba Ijesa, for defiling a 14 year old girl.
In a statement released by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, says based on the preliminary findings, Baba Ijesa started having the carnal knowledge of the minor since the age of 7.
He further said a CCTV camera installed in the house of the complainant were also presented as an evidence during the process of investigation.
A case of defiling a minor was first reported against the suspect at Sabo Police station on the April 19 by one Princess Adekola Adekanye and later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti for proper investigation.
The State Police Command Confirmed that the suspect have confessed to the crime during interrogation.
According to the statement, The State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has promised to do justice base on the report of the investigation.
Female Fraudster Arrested By EFCC In Delta State
A 24 year female fraudster has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC] in their Benin operation.
The suspect, ms Queen Jonathan, who disguise as a bitcoin operator online has defrauded several unsuspecting members of the public by soliciting for patronage under a fake name Sophia Rodriguez.
The Anti graft Agency said Sophia was arrested in Oghara, Delta state during operation that was carried out based on a tip off from the public.
During the operation, infinix Hot 8 smart phone was recovered from her including other items.
According to the commission, Sophia will be arraigned in court as soon as the investigation are completed.
Fani Kayode Blows Hot, Do Not Release Iskilu Wakili Under Any Circumstances
The former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani Kayode [FFK], has called on the government to ignore any attempt to release the apprehended Iskilu Wakili, who has been championing the several kidnap and killings ravaging Ibarapa town.
Mr Femi through his social media has recorded several statement saying any attempt by the government to get the dangerous Wakili released may foster another crises that may lead to unending killings and attacks in the community.
The former Minister stated that on no account should the government release unrepentant Killer and kidnapper back to the society for the sake of peace and harmony.
He said if a criminal of such caliber could be released back to Ibarapa Community, this may jeopardize the entrenched peace already been brokered between the law abiding herders and Farmers in Oyo state.
Recall that members of the O’odua Peaple’s Congress [OPC] in a bid to put an end to the several killings, kidnaps ravaging the farmers in Iparapa town had set out for a manhunt on Iskilu Wakili, who was fingered as the leader of the deadly Fulani herders unleashing mayhem on the innocent farmers in the community after the exit of Seriki Fulani from the Oyo state.
OPC members got Wakili arrested and handed him over the police authority in Oyo state while in another turn that took place led to the arrest of the OPC members who were involved in the capturing of Wakili and his criminal gangs.
In a claim by the police, the OPC members were arrested over how Wakili and his gangs were treated during the process of having them arrested in the bush.
